BE CAREFUL - PLEASE - YOUR SHOES MAY JUST BE RUINED!! (Mine were)

They ruined my brand new $350 shoes. The shoes were hand-painted gray, with naturally finished tan soles (I’ve never seen shoes like this - especially with that unique contrast).

When we dropped-off the shoes we were very clear that we wanted sole protection (rubber pads for the soles) and heel-taps. AND most importantly, to not ruin the beautiful soles.

Well, they did... when I went back to pick-up the shoes, the soles were painted (burnished) black. I was upset, but the owner recognized the error and said he would fix it. I have used the Wilton Shoe Maker before (with no problems) so trusted he would...

He didn’t... upon my return, they had now burnished the soles tan (picture tan house paint on the soles of a pair of shoes). Their (he and his son’s) views were that was the best they could do, all they could do. I was dumbfounded, saying that was unacceptable and they needed to return the shoes to their original condition, or they owed me $350 for the shoes.

They responded “take us to small claims court”.

I was dumbfounded yet again. How does a business treat a WRONGED CUSTOMER that way?!?!

So I convinced them to take one more shot... I picked them up and they are not back to their original condition (by a long shot), but they are better than the “tan house paint” they were, and being at my wits-end, at this point I’ve convinced myself this is the best I’m going to get, so I left with the shoes.

But here is the kicker... THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME... and not only charge me the amount that was agreed upon when the shoes were originally brought in, but more!! Then, after having my brand new shoes ruined, being charged for the work that ruined them, being told to “take us to small claims court”, I was also threatened upon leaving the workshop.

MY ADVICE: LOOK FOR ANOTHER COBBLER. The Wilton Shoe Maker isn’t the only game in town.
