Established more than 25 years ago, Blood Bank of the Redwoods is a full-service blood center that has been serving North Bay communities in California. The center is a nonprofit, independent organization operating 24-hours, seven-days a week. It provides a wide range of services, including donor, patient, product and laboratory services. It offers a wide range of donor testing services, including enzyme immuno-assay, antibody screening to common red cell antigens, rapid plasma reagin, cholesterol check, sickle cell screening, nucleic acid testing and confirmatory testing of reactive and positive screening tests. The organization annually collects more than 43,000 donations of transfusible blood that is processed and then distributed on a daily basis to hospitals and health care agencies in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties in the state. Blood Bank of the Redwoods is located in Santa Rosa, Calif.
