Emily Smith, MOT, is a registered and licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L) who provides hand therapy to people in both the hospital and outpatient settings. She holds specialty certifications in hand therapy and physical agent modalities such as therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and light therapy. Ms. Smiths prior experience includes treating and managing patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary conditions in a variety of settings, including acute rehabilitation, outpatient neurological rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation, and pediatrics. She enjoys working with patients from all backgrounds and walks of life. Her research interests include motor control and how it affects patient care, as well as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a progressive and painful chronic disease of the nervous system. Ms. Smith obtained a master's degree in occupational therapy from University of St. Augustine, San Marcos, Calif. and a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from California State University Fullerton.
