Service was phenomenal! Super friendly! The employees knew the customers that walked in. The food was just as good as the service! Best Chicago dog I've ever had! Onion rings were good too.

Coming from a place in the middle part of the state I am very much a coinsurer of burger joints. This place, the classic malt shop, I have to say is tops for the San Diego area. They do the simple things well. The buns are toasted perfectly. I enjoy the "normal" burger because nothing takes away from the great taste of the burger itself. You can always tell a good burger place by the fry's and rings and they are amazing. Probably my favoite frys period come from this place!! Definitely give this place a try if you are looking for great food and a fair price!

What else can be said about this place... truly a great spot in San Diego! I have yet to try something from the Malt Shop that isn't great! Highly recommended!

WOW! I took my family into the Malt Shop and was instantly greeted with one of the most pleasant gentlemen I have seen in a long time in SoCal...to be honest it reminded me of the local diners back east. We ordered our food and Jeff (the gentleman who worked the front counter) asked for my first name the oder was put up. As we sat down Jeff brought us our malts... we didn't even have to get up!!! I ordered a mint chip malt... wow was it good! About 10 minutes later our order came out even with what seemed to be a normal dinner rush (I have waited longer at BK, Wendy's ect ect with less people ordering.. and this is actually real great food) We all started to mac down on the burgers we ordered and I have to say the guy on the grill made my grilled onions PERFECT!!!! All in all this place is not huge but the people(employees and patrons) made the atmosphere that much better!! This place is amazing and deserves a trip if you live in San Diego or visiting the area!!! Thanks!

Found the Classic Malt Shop on the 10News AList and have to say the do not disapoint!!! Jeff is a true sports fan and its awesome to talk sports with him while sipping down an awesome mint chip shake! By far one of the best local spots in all SD... reminds me alot of places back East. Will be back for sure!
