General Info

1919 alludes to the year of the “Black Sox Scandal,” when eight Chicago White Sox players who were up against the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series were caught intentionally losing games in exchange for money from gamblers, including noted mobster, Arnold Rothstein. Banned from baseball for life, these players ignited a scandal that corrupted America’s favorite pastime, shaking the fabric of the nation. These times gave rise to the famous phrase, “Say it ain’t so, Joe,” in reference to Shoeless Joe Jackson, a Chicago White Sox player who was believed to be part of the scheme. Since that time, impropriety has played a part in nearly every sport. From Pete Rose and Tim Donaghy to Reggie Bush and Danny Almonte, sports and scandals have oftentimes gone hand in hand. 1919 is a throwback to what a neighborhood sports bar used to be. Simple drinks are served quickly, so that you can focus on the next play. At 1919, you won’t find any food items you can’t pronounce. Instead, you’ll savor classic comfort food made from scratch, with a creative twist. With the sound on for every big game, there is no better place to watch your favorite team than amid the timeless surroundings of 1919. 1919 has two floors spanning two adjacent spaces. Great burger! Plain and simple with no frills and the taste of the meat was there. Love that. Good fries and great selection of beers on tap. More things to try on the menu so I'll be back.
