General Info
William Peace University is located in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina. It was founded in 1857 as Peace Institute, offering education for boys and girls in primary grades and to women from high school to college. Peace, an all women's college, became a four-year baccalaureate college and graduated its first bachelor's students in August of 1996. Peace began offering coeducational evening courses through the William Peace School of Professional Studies in 2009. In 2011, Peace College transitioned to William Peace University and will begin admitting male students to its day program in fall 2012. It's mission is to prepare students for careers in the organizations of tomorrow. On average, more than 90 percent of the university's graduates are placed in jobs or graduate school within one year of graduation. WPU At-a-Glance: Ranked among the top colleges in the nation by the National Survey of Student Engagement. Requires academic internships for all students. During the past five years, an average of 60% of Peace graduates reported that their college internship resulted in a job offer. Located on a 21-acre campus in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Boasts an 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio with 100% of classes taught by faculty - no teaching assistants. Has over 30 student clubs and organizations, including publications, performance groups, and academic societies. Peace students completed over 8,000 hours of community service last year. Participates in the USA South Athletic Conference, sponsoring NCAA Division III intercollegiate teams in basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Each semester advisors work closely with students, serving as mentors and offering support as students identify academic and personal interests. The academic advising program at Peace is highly regarded by students with results of the most recent Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI) indicating that Peace students found their academic advisors approachable and particularly concerned about their success.
