The retail shop was opened in 1984 as 'The Peoria Record Company' after starting out with mail order & record show sales in 1978. Their location has only changed once, in May of 1998 to the present location, and the name was changed to reflect the owner's favorite Byrds album! In the early 90's they started a set-sale, old-school printed & mailed series of 'Killer Catalogs' featuring rare collectible records and hard to find new arrivals on LP, 7", CD, & pop culture & music-related vintage memorabilia, which as of 2014 is about to reach #100 in the series. The store itself displays approximately 25,000 LP's, 12,000 CD's, and many 1,000's of 45's, plus rare memorabilia from The Beatles, Elvis, Kiss, and much more. Their backstock alone amounts to several times those numbers, enough stock to open several more shops. This is in part due to the dozen or so shops that have been part of the operation over the past 30 years, eventually being all combined in 1998.
