A vintage dress has the heart of a family attached to it. When you are looking for someone to alter/update it they have to be as special as the dress. Look no further because Ruthy is that person! Her talent, care, love, and attention to detail is unmatched!
A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
I don't even know where to begin. Perhaps the sloppy, half assed job? Her dirty floor/carpet with pins all over it? Maybe after a month of having mine and my sisters dresses, she still hadn't finished it? And then giving me a lame excuse as to why? She didn't even call to tell us that they weren't ready! She even wanted us to pay the total balance upfront. Ruthy was defensive to every question I asked her about the work that she had done. She said that since my sisters dress was "off the rack", there wasn't anything she could do with it. Apparently her motto for alterations is "It doesn't matter how much you paid for your dress, what name brand it is, or how beautiful it is on the hanger...if it doesn't fit you impeccably, you wasted your money!" That is bullshit. If it's off the rack, don't bother. I won't be taking anything else to Ruthy's. This woman is unskilled and/or cannot handle her workload, is downright rude and knows nothing of customer service. She kept saying that she didn't have time to fix any of the many things that were wrong with my sisters wedding dress that originally she said she would do. She even broke my garment bag and didn't replace it. After maybe 10 minutes of a very rushed final fitting, my sister expressed her dissatisfaction in which Ruthy said that she would take in the sides and the bust free of an extra charge (even though she already charged for it) if my sister would give her a 5 star review. I would give her zero stars because "Eek! Methinks not" doesn't cover my feelings towards this business. I feel like "Run away screaming" is more appropriate. Please do yourself a favor next time you want something altered and go somewhere else. It's not worth the nightmare. You do not need this extra stress with a wedding around the corner.
Because there is not a zero star rating. Have you ever seen what a final fitting is suppose to look like? The bride smiling and excited with anticipation about the up and coming event! Champagne and mimosas, laughter and whimsy! A cherish-able event leading to the wedding day itself?! Oh how sweet it is!! Just not here. My fiance in trembling tears, her sister is complete shock and awe of "did that really just happen??" My nine year old daughter upset because the dress lady was talking so mean to them. Completely and utterly unprofessional. She degraded my future bride stating that it was her fault that the dress didn't fit because she lost weight, yeah, in a month? no one person can lose 3 inches, anywhere on their bodies, in a single month without trying. Please do not ask questions about her work during final fitting because she will become all defensive and blame YOU for being nit-picky, I believe that is the word she used. Heaven forbid you are marrying on a budget and have to by off a rack, those kinds of dresses are just impossible to get to fit properly...So we were not satisfied, and the wedding is in a week, she doesn't have time to do her job now. That's okay, will the deposit be refunded so you can take your business elsewhere? NO! and by the way, if you don't pay for the balance remaining, she will hold your dress for ransom to guarantee that you won't be getting married, in that dress anyways. She makes sure she gets every penny! Now we can't afford a fix, and my beautiful bride to be's dreams of walking down the isle wearing a nice dress is gone. Thanks for nothing but heartbreak!!
Ruthy is such an amazing modist, seamstress and person! I had just moved to Pensacola from Spain, and my wedding was 3 months away. My dress belonged to my cousin, it is a 13 year old beautiful but extremely delicate traditional gown, so I was terrified to take it anywhere to be altered and fitted since I was new in town (also, I had a very specific idea on how I wanted the dress to be altered. My grandmother is an incredible seamstress, and I've been lucky enough to learn from her, so I was afraid I wasn't going to find the quality I was looking for). I found Ruthy through the internet and after a very good recommendation by a bridal shop, I took my dress to her. It was immediately evident how friendly and professional Ruthy was, and she showed her talent and creativity when altering my dress. I looked exactly the way I wanted on my wedding day! I wish I could upload a picture of my wedding dress to show what amazing work she did, and what a piece of work it was. Just imagine 13-year-old, frail mesh grounded lace long sleeves! I cannot describe the amazing work she did, and all under 3 months! I would recommend Ruthy to anyone looking for high quality work and fun fun time. She is the best!
It doesn't get better then Ruthy's Creations & Alterations!!! I had bought a sample wedding dress that was to big for me and took my wedding dress to Ruthy. After getting a great personal recommendation and looking at the reviews online I decided to setup an appt. Her personality and the professional shop she has is so inviting!! After meeting with Ruthy I felt confident that she would be able to alter my dress, she did and ontime!!! My wedding dress turned out better then I could of ever dreamed of!! She is amazing and took my big dress and transformed it to fit my body! I wouldn't trust such an important piece will anyone but HER! I have already recommended Ruthy to a friend and her dress is there right now!!! Go to Ruthy if you want it done right!!
Amazing shop. Very friendly and easy to work with. Very affordable. She fixed my wedding dress and did better alterations than davids bridal where i had originally bought the dress. I would recommend Ruth's work to anyone. She is the best.
Awesome in all areas. Very friendly and professional, in addition to doing an outstanding job. She made my dress feel like it was made just for me. Highly recommend!
