As an example, a customer recently presented a specification that called for 303 stainless to be welded during final assembly. The customer was advised of the non-weldability of 303 with a recommendation for 304 or 316. In a worst case scenario the customer could've been charged for the wrong parts, after sending to the welder. Critical error, start over. In addition to losing money, the customer's pharmaceutical strain gauge prototype would've been seriously delayed.
