Awful service. Comically bad. Got a call today while I was traveling that they could not deliver fuel because my dogs were in the yard. My dogs are at a boarding facility. I guess any excuse not to show up is as good as any other.

I am not sure what the fuss is about: Halstead Quinn have been entirely reliable in delivering gas to our house for ten years now. Recently they moved the gas line when we relocated our generator. Again, no problem.

I would not recommend you do business with Halstead Quinn under ANY circumstances. In case the other online reviews left you doubtful as to their incompetence, allow me to add my two cents/horror story. Earlier this year I purchased a house where HQ provided propane service – there was one 60-gallon tank rented from the company and three 120-gallon tanks that I OWN that they fill. After researching prices and reviews, I decided to switch companies (to Hoffman Energy, who I highly recommend). After the new company came to install their own 60-gallon tank, they contacted Halstead to come remove their rental tank, which was moved (for their convenience) to the front yard of my house from its original location in the woods and down a hill.

After three weeks (and as many phone calls), Halstead finally made an appointment to remove their tank. Unbeknownst to me, they also removed the three (full) 120-gallon tanks from my property without my permission. When my generator initiated its automatic weekly test, it failed and indicated a fault. I called a generator company, only to find out that there was no propane supply to the generator. It quickly became clear what had happened and when I contacted Halstead, the woman in the service department became flustered and transferred me to a manager, Jerry. In fairness, Jerry was very friendly and helped to the greatest extent he could. He arranged for my tanks to be returned the following Saturday morning. When they arrived, two were full, one was empty and the driver refused to install the tanks unless I clear-cut the shrubs in my yard so he could have easy access. When I refused, he took the tanks back to Halstead to be emptied so they were more manageable (keep in mind that they managed to remove the tanks when they were full). The empty tanks were returned the following Monday and filled on Tuesday.

I thought this nightmare was finally over – the only thing I was waiting for was a check for the propane that was rightfully taken in the 60-gal tank and the reimbursement for the bill from the generator company (which Jerry assured me would not be a problem). Unfortunately, after over a week of non-response, Jerry had to escalate the matter to someone named Glenn who is one of the rudest, most condescending people I’ve had the displeasure of speaking with.

When Glenn finally called, he told me he was calculating the amount I owed Halstead for additional propane his driver accidentally delivered to my house when he filled the tanks because “he thinks I would want to pay for a service I received.” He also told me that I would be charged over $80 for the pick up of the 60-gal tank. When I made it clear that I did not intend to pay him for anything, that he did not provide a “service” to me but in fact stole my property, his next ploy was to demand closing documents from the sale of my house to prove I was the owner of the propane that he had no problem removing in the first place.

This nonsense started June 7 when Halstead took my property and finished in mid-August when I finally received my payment in full. But based on their underhanded business practices, rude management and overall incompetence, I cannot recommend anyone allow Halstead Quinn to work on their property.

Avoid this business at all costs. They are so rude, make mistakes in billing, make promises they do not keep, pretend to do "leak tests" they never perform, call and harass after making mistakes. They used to be a good company. I don't know what happened.

Minus 5 Stars...Rude Service f...

Minus 5 Stars...Rude Service folks, they do not take care of long time service customers, have to be constantly reminded of several missed delivery dates, make delivery promises they do not keep, then claim you were never even on their list, and want to argue with you when questioned. They will hang up on you, and are extremly unprofessional, and miss several delivery attempts and break all delivery promises. Shop Elsewhere, I have cancelled contract, sent letters to Better Business Bureau, and local Chamber of Commerce. I was hoping a local service company would take care of their local customers whom are supporting them. Guess Not... Shame on me.
