General Info
Dr. Sunil Amin is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he also serves as Director of Endoscopy for Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Lennar Foundation Medical Center. Dr. Amin received his medical degree from the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York, where he also completed a Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Following this general GI training, Dr. Amin returned to Columbia University to complete an additional year of training in therapeutic endoscopy. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Miami, Dr. Amin was on staff at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Amin is board certified in both the United States and Canada in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.In 2020, Dr. Amin was one of three physicians awarded a prestigious Endoscopic Training Award by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). With these funds, Dr. Amin was able to complete intensive training in per-oral endoscopy myotomy (POEM), gastric per-oral endoscopy myotomy (G-POEM), and endoscopic sub-mucosal dissection (ESD) in Prague, Czech Republic under the mentorship of renowned endoscopist Dr. Jan Martinek at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM). Dr. Amin is passionate about being able to offer these new procedures to the residents of South Florida. In 1/2021, Dr. Amin was appointed director of endoscopy at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Amin has published extensively in both general gastroenterology and therapeutic endoscopy. His research has been featured in journals such as Gastroenterology, Cancer, the American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Amin lives in Miami with his wife and two young children. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the city and taking advantage of the vibrant culture Miami has to offer.
