70 Years in Business- HOW?

While growning up in Lexington, my mother and father often went to Yarboroughs for a special time out; just the two of them. They went there because it was upscale and nice with good steaks.

When after nearly 40 some years I returned to Lexington and my husband and I decided to go out for a special night and selected Yarborough's. If it was special to my parents years ago and still in business, it really must be special.

Folks, I truly got the suprise of a life time. You certainly could tell that it had been in business for about 70 years. If they had ever refurbished or redecorated I do not know when; maybe it was done in the 50's. The place was full of patrons I think. It was so dark and dingy it was hard to see. The old grumpy waitress was no help and looked and acted like she had been there forever. I guess she assumed we were regulars because she did not seem to be helpful with our questions about the menu...just anoyed.

We finally ordered house salad, fired flounder and twiced backed potato. Salad was kitchen warm like to near a steam table. Founder one medium piece was too fishy to eat half way down. The slaw was in a plastic cup about the size that butter comes in=one tablespoon. That was okay cause I did not know that slaw could be that horrible. Twice baked potato was the best thing I had.

The only thing nice was the young black man that sat in a dark cramped corner and sang wonderfully during our snack supper.

I have been to better restrooms in gas stations on the way to the beach that you had to ask to a key and go outside to enter than the restroom (Lady) in Yarborough's.

It is obvious that people in Lexington have been most supportive of Yarborough's. Yarborough's should return the favor by offering the people a clean and nice place to contiune to come to..... REDECORATE THIS DUMP!!!!! It is wonderful to keep the family history alive but clean it up a bit.
