There are 2 parts to this review: Midtown Sweeps, the wood stove installer, and Lees Bees, the stove retailer.



Last December (2011) my wife and I wanted to purchase a wood burning stove. While shopping for tile for the stove heath, three different tile stores all highly recommended Lees Bees and his installer, Byron, from Midtown Sweeps, regarding working with them for installs and customer service/warranties. The other major stove retailer in Palmdale/Lancaster had bad reviews from the same tile stores. We decided to buy from Lees Bees and have Midtown Sweeps install the stove.



From the start Lee Bees were patient and really nice in helping us pick a stove. We had gone to the other stove retailer, just in case, and we felt like a number at a drive through restaurant. Midtown Sweeps came out for an install estimate. They were very nice and explained everything. Being an engineer, I asked lots of questions and got solid answers. The stove was delivered and installed and we were happy, until we started using it.



At first we thought it was our lack of stove experience. After a few weeks we called about the stove not burning well. To make a long story short, we went through months of back and forth trying to get it working. That sounds bad, but it was not. From the initial call Lees Bees was willing to exchange the stove on the spot. My wife and I were happy with everything else and we wanted this specific stove finish so we opted to ask for Midtown Sweeps to investigate. Byron was very good. After each trial session we took a few weeks at trying the stove, so it took many months to revolve. Eventually Byron, my wife and I decided that the stove had an issue, so Byron brought it back to Lees Bees to try in the store. Please understand that this specific stove weighs over 400 pounds, so it was not a simple task to pick it up and move it around. It had issues in the store as well, so it wasn’t the installation. They tried another one in the store and it worked as it should. Shortly thereafter Byron showed up with the new stove. It was the same model but a different finish, which my wife and I decided we liked more; otherwise they would have ordered a replacement for us. Since California is not always cold we did not really use the stove until the next December (2012). It works like a charm. Again, I want to reiterate that at every point through this Lees Bees continued to offer on the spot exchange and Byron would install it, all under warranty. It was my wife and I who were willing to debug the issue. Byron had a lot of patience with customer support, for us and the stove manufacturer, trying chimney modifications to ensure airflow, inspecting parts of the stove ,different wood, etc. The stove was actually exchanged by Lees Bees a full 9 months after we bought it and used.



We have nothing but excellent reviews about Lees Bees standing behind their products and Byron, who we saw many times through this process. Excellent support, work, pricing, they are friendly, and both parties really stood by their product/work. Not something one sees a lot of these days. We waiting this long to give the review because we wanted to write it once the stove exchange was complete, and not give a partial which doesn’t really help anyone deciding on a final product.

We have had Midtown Sweeps come to our home in the mountains for the past several years and each time we are impressed. They are extremely neat and very thorough. You just know your chimney is all clean and ready for another year. Once you call them, they make an appointment and come out. Wouldn't think of getting anyone else to take care of our chimney and dryer needs. Thanks

May 17, 2012 Today Byron Schramm and his associate Adam of Midtown Sweeps came to our home to install a pellet stove. Byron had made several trips to our home previously, once to measure and recomment which stoves would fit into our space. My husband and I purchased some slate that would not fit under our front door, Byron was kind enough to return the slate to where we purchased it and exchanged it for slate tiles and installed the hearth, which looks beautiful. We picked out our pellet stove at Lees Bees and Byron and Adam picked it up and brought it out today and installed it. It looks lovely. I would recomment their service to anyone. Great Job! Midtown Sweeps designed and installed a beautiful custom fireplace for our new home this year. It is the main focal point of our greatroom and very impressive. We did however, experience two areas of cracking on each side of the fireplace on the wall approximately a month or so after it was finished. We called Midtown and Byron expeditiously followed-up on two separate visits to our home only one day apart and it looks as beautiful as ever!
