Penney's only gets a 2 because typically anything I can walk out of the store with is fine. This is not the case with anything that is delivered. I had a nightmare with my set of wooden bedroom furniture. Deliverymen who barely speak English show up in an unmarked white truck to deliver the furniture which really didn't give me much confidence. Then as they begin to take furniture out of the truck they flag me down and point to tremendous damage on a piece of furniture. I say I won't accept that piece and they start unloading and assembling what little furniture turns out to be undamaged. Turns out 75% of my order was damaged so I just said take it all away I don't want any of it. When I say damage there were huge chops and gashes as if someone took an axe to my furniture. I've yet to see anything like it, this is like the type of damage that could never be fixed after the fact. I will say they took the furniture without any issues and Penney's did not give me trouble cancelling my order, but I was absolutely floored that no one ever really apologized. That being said I had some sort of gift certificate there so I walked out with a jewelry chest off the floor and that was fine (but of course I had the chance to inspect it first in-person). BE WARE OF PENNEY'S DELIVERY! It's not worth saving a buck and going with cheap furniture, I say invest in something from Bassett/Raymour and know it'll be delivered correctly the first time.
