They are HORRIBLE people to work for. They talk about you behind your back and make fun of you when you are not there to defend yourself. They treat you like you’re worthless and beneath them. If you have to ask a question, think twice about it. They are liars, rude, condescending, and just overall horrible people. It’s a family business, so if you aren’t family, be prepared to be treated like crap. They do overprice and won’t work with the patients to figure something out. They force you to go the more expensive route when they know you can’t afford it. And if you say no to contacts, they’ll try to talk you into it by bribing you. The only people there who treat you like a person with feelings are the front desk receptionists.

I have been a patient here for 29 years--one of Dr. McIntosh's first patients. I have never been overcharged or "made" to buy anything I didn't want. If you wear contacts there are TWO exams. Your regular refraction and contact lens! Most people do not understand that. Even if you only wear CONTACTS you have to have the regular eye exam. Contact fittings are separate from glasses. Also, once you have an eye exam you are given a prescription that is regulated by the FDA and Federal trade, just like prescription medication. The eye prescription is good for ONE year. Places that sell them without a prescription are breaking the law. It costs more money to wear contact lenses than it does to wear glasses. So if you wear both, expect to pay more anywhere you shop. And you CAN get your prescription from this office and go somewhere else if you want to. I have done it for many years. I have also ordered my contacts from other places that may be cheaper but sometimes it depends on what's convenient for me at the time, I may get them from here. Health care is expensive anywhere. So is eye care. Your first time contact fee may apply if you are a new patient because they cannot "go by" your old script from another doctor. If you wear contacts on a daily basis then your eye health is even more important because you are wearing something touching your eye unlike glasses.

As a rule of thumb, always ask the questions when you call to make the appointment. Get the name of who you spoke with and take that information with you to the appointment and reconfirm it before you are seen. No surprises that way. Just a suggestion.

Beware Beware!!! They charge ...

Beware Beware!!! They charge a Patient Fee of 110.00 (for contact wearers) ON TOP of your regular fitting and exam. They also MAKE YOU BUY 100.00 worth of contact lenses FROM THEM. They will not write you a prescription for contact lenses otherwise. Also, they overcharge the lenses, and they want to put you in the more expensive lenses. They present this bill and "POLICY" only AFTER they have done the exam. It is sneaky and underhanded. For the same amount that I paid here, I could have had a years worth if not more of lenses and never have had a bill of 400.00 present for a contact lens exam. I have been wearing contacts for almost 30 years and have NEVER EVER seen anything like this.
