- Pediatric CareMurray Morrison, MD, joined Drs. McCreery and Truchly in 1970 after completing his training at the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to develop one of the first true joint replacement practices in Connecticut. After serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Vietnam War, Herbert Hermele, MD, joined OSG in 1976. He developed one of the first arthroscopic and orthopaedic trauma practices in the area. In 1980, Robert Dawe, MD, joined Drs. McCreery, Morrison, and Hermele. Dr. Dawe was the first fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon in the area with subspecialty expertise in spine and pediatrics.

We like to think of ourselves as a part of their total health care plan.
- Family PracticeCindy is a NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant with 26 years of experience. She worked in Pennsylvania in family medicine for 6 years then branched out to orthopaedic surgery where she aided in starting up a new orthopaedic practice. She spent the last 20 years in orthopaedics specializing in sports medicine and joint replacement. Cindy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Geneseo and then went on to receive her Physician Assistant degree at King’s College in Pennsylvania. She worked in Pennsylvania until last year when she joined OSG specializing in Sports Medicine. Cindy’s favorite pastime is spending time with family.
- Emergency CareKathy DeLucia is an NCCPA certified Physician Assistant with nearly 30 years experience as an Orthopaedic PA in the office, surgical, hospital and urgent care settings. She graduated from Lock Haven University in 1986 with Bachelor of Science degree, completing a dual major in Health and Physical Education, and Athletic Training. She then graduated from Drexel University School of Medicine (Hahnemann University) Physician Assistant Program in 1989. Kathy has been providing patient care at Orthopaedic Specialty Group since 1992, following several years of work as a hospital based Orthopaedic PA at Bridgeport Hospital. Her primary focus is Sports Medicine.
- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeDr. Backe and Dr. Richer are subspecialty upper-extremity trained physicians who have earned the prestigious “Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery†. They are leaders in operative and non-operative care of disorders that affect hand, wrist and elbow function in adults and children. The hand team includes Certified Hand Therapists to assist in the rehabilitation process. Their patients include high school, college, and professional athletes. They are consultants to the Connecticut State Worker’s Compensation Commissioner. From complex trauma care to carpal tunnel syndrome, workman’s compensation to sports related injuries, their goal is to help patients return to normal, healthy, and active lifestyles.
- MRIChiropractors also are trained to diagnose and treat non-spinal musculoskeletal injuries. As a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, Dr. Carr has extensive experience treating shoulder, hip and foot injuries, as well as injuries to the remainder of the body. The first step in any patient visit begins with a history and physical exam, at which time Dr. Carr decides which patients he will treat, and which ones require referral to another physician. Dr. Carr also sends for x-ray or MRI evaluation when indicated.

- Physical TherapyOur team of general orthopaedic physicians has skills and experience in treating a wide range of injuries and diseases related to the musculoskeletal system. They use advanced and proven techniques to diagnose and treat common problems to bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles. We now consist of 28 physicians dedicated to musculoskeletal care in the fields of Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pain Management, Physiatry, Sports Medicine, Podiatry, and Chiropractic. Doctors are supported by eight experienced Physician Assistants. We have two new comprehensive orthopaedic offices in Fairfield and Shelton that offer multi-physician office hours, physical and occupational therapy, imaging, and urgent walk-in orthopaedic care. “Orthofast†– our physician staffed orthopaedic urgent care centers in Fairfield, Milford, Shelton, and Monroe – were the first of their kind in our communities, open evenings and weekends. The Fairfield Surgery Center (first of its kind – practice-based specialty specific) and OSG MRI (3T) are at our Fairfield Office location. Orthopaedic Specialty Group was honored to have the Connecticut Hand & Upper Extremity Center in Bridgeport join our practice in 2019. Our foot and ankle specialists are trained and equipped to diagnose and treat all problems involving your foot and ankle. We treat people of all ages for problems such as callous and bunions, as well as other serious injuries and disorders. Many foot and ankle problems can be remedied with conservative care including correctional orthotic devices. For patients with conditions that fail to respond to conservative care, surgical options are available from our specialists.
