American Family Care, based in Fairfield, Ala., is one of the Southeast's oldest and largest independent primary care networks. AFC has more than 15 medical centers and over 20 practices in the state of Alabama, including Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, and Huntsville. It offers general surgery, nephrology and internal medicine, orthopedics, ear nose and throat examination, physical therapy, and gynecology services. AFC is a privately held company and is not affiliated with any hospital, hospital system or health maintenance organization. Its clinical testing services include drug screening, medical review officer services, complete laboratory services, immunizations, pulmonary function tests, breath alcohol testing, vision screening, audiometric testing, HIV screening, and X-ray services.
