On the decline. Had been going for over 10 years 3 times a week or so as I live almost across the stree. Quality down, prices up then years ago. Great Servers but poor management and customer service. Owner is terrible and insulting. No class or customer skills. It's still a good place to grab a beer or relax next to the water but much better options at their price point for Dinner. If you go I recommend the Lunch Sirloin, burger, or Tuna Sandwich. Be cautious with any coupons, they re-interpret them when you go to use them.

We had a terrible experience. Despite the waitress being nice and the food decent, the restaurant manager was incredibly impolite to us before we were seated for no apparent reason and ruined the overall atmosphere on the onset. We were all perplexed by his lack of courtesy and unprofessional conduct. The entire table agreed that none of us will ever step a foot again in this restaurant.

Best seafood in the area. Friendly and full of locals who know where to eat and drink. Butter blackened New York strip is out of this world. Get a table on the waterfront - the view is fantastic.

the best sirloin in town

Me and my girl friend are from Missouri and are used to getting great steaks. We moved to Florida four years ago and have tried to find a steak that would come close to what we could get back home, with no results. We decided to try Backwaters and not only was the service and drinks outstanding, but the butter blackened sirloin was amazing. I thought we were at a steakhouse in Kansas City. The Tilapia was great as well. So if you are looking for a great steak or sea food with comfortable atmosphere the head to Sand Key and enjoy.

Still licking my fingers

We recently stop by and ate at here. It was my first time, but my honey had eaten here before. We took our son and my younger and picky brother! We have a good time, the food was excellent. I had the special, French dip, not always on the menu(BUT it should be), my honey had a wrap, and my brother had the fresh tuna salad sandwich. We started with some onion rings that our son loved! We will definitely be going back again! Enjoy, and ask for the "New Ben" a great server!

I would never go there again......

Where do I start? In 2004, this place was good. I went there one time during vacation and found the service excellent, the waitress friendly.Forward to September 2006. First, our waitress brought us menus and our beers. Then forgot about us for 15-20 minutes. She was apologetic atleast. By this point, we had decided to just have a beer and find someplace else to eat.On our way out, the manager told us that the following day they had Happy Hour from 2-6, featuring Peel and Eat Shrimp for 50 cents each, order as many or few as you like.So the following day, we return just before 5, all set for that Peel and Eat Shrimp at Happy Hour.We were greeted by a waitress who was very snobby. We inquired about the Happy Hour Peel and Eat...she told us there was no such special. Needless to say, we were not happy with this and ended up dining elsewhere. I will never return to Backwaters.
