The Chelsea Police Department is managed by the Public Safety department of the city of Chelsea in Massachusetts. The department operates a traffic enforcement unit that is responsible for the education of the public. It also manages the Chelsea Police Patrol Division, which responds to emergencies, such as crimes in progress, fires and injuries. The Chelsea Police Department arrests more than 2,000 individuals and investigates over 700 motor vehicle accidents annually. In addition, the department handles cases related to drug distribution and prostitution. It manages a criminal investigation division that investigates gang violence, car theft and bank robbery cases. The Chelsea Police Department offers domestic violence assistance programs.
