General Info
Henry Powell Hopkins III works in the same shop that his father, Henry Powell Hopkins, Jr., opened in an old carriage house over 60 years ago in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. When Henry Jr. was young, his father, Henry, Sr., had wanted him to become an architect like himself. The son preferred art. And as luck would have it, the Hopkins family lived next to the president of Kirk Silver, an old-line silver maker admired for its style of raised decorations that came to be known as "Baltimore silver." An internship led to art school after World War II and a distinguished decades-long career in his own silver studio. Henry Powell Hopkins III practically grew up in his father's shop. With a degree in art from the Maryland Institute College of Art and after years of work under the watchful eye of his father, Henry Powell Hopkins III carries on the family tradition of creating outstanding hand-wrought silver.
